Rings with engravings inside or outside used to be known as Poesie rings. Sometimes spelled “Posy<\/strong> “, or “Posie<\/strong>“, these are rings with short inscriptions and they were the most common type of ring in use since the Middle Ages. They take their name from the word ‘Poesy’<\/em> which is derived from the old French word poesie<\/em>, meaning\u00a0‘The art or composition of poetry’.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Poesie rings date as early as classical times, when they were considered magical, having the power when worn to enforce the poesy engraved on them.<\/span><\/p>\n

During\u00a0the 16th century in England and France, wedding rings are often inscribed with a sentiment of love, faith and hope. They are also used as a lover’s token or as a means of showing fond regard, representing the deep intimate feelings of the giver.<\/span><\/p>\n

Depending on the collection your ring is from, you may choose your engraving in a variety of font, out of which cursive is the most popular choice!<\/span><\/p>\n

As our rings are all made in Japan, you may also engrave in Japanese.<\/span><\/p>\n

*Note: The amount of characters that can be engraved is highly dependent on your ring size! The smaller it is, the lesser space there is for the engraving!<\/span><\/p>\n
