Before we go on further, I believe a lot of us will be questioning what exactly is 4C’s. Let me do a brief explanation on this before we proceed with any other things.

The 4C’s is actually known as Color, Clarity, Cut, Carat. Only after knowing the 4C’s will allow you to make a better choice of diamond for your loved ones. Without further delay, let us go straight to the 4C’s explanation.

Color – Diamond industry have a color scale which ranges from “D” to “Z”, with “D” being the whitest and end with “Z” which has yellow appearance.

Clarity – Clarity refers to the purity of the diamond with “Flawless” being top in the grade chart with no visble internal inclusions and external blemishes, to “Imperfect” which will be seen as I1 / I2 / I3 where the inclusions will be almost visible to every individuals.

Cut – This is the most impotant among the 4C’s as it determines the beauty of the diamond. Cut is not the shape but the arrangement of a diamond’s facets based on specific angles and proportions. An ideal cut allows the light ray to enter and exit from the top of the diamond instead of “leaking out” from the sides or bottom of the diamond.

Carat – This is basically the size of the diamond and represented as “ct”. A one carat (1.00 ct) diamond weighs approximately 0.200 gram and a five carat (5.00 ct) weighs approximately 1 gram.

All GIA certified diamonds will come with a “grading card” which resembles a person’s Identification Card. This “grading card” will show the results of the diamond including (but not restricted to) the Diamond’s weight and quality which are examined by the professionals.
