The stars are caused by the light reflecting from needle-like inclusions of rutile aligned perpendicular to the rays of the star.

Evaluating a star gemstone depends on the clarity of the star. Generally the star must be viewed using a single source of light. Moving the light back and forth should cause the star to move across the stone’s surface. The rays of the star should be evenly distributed and relatively straight.

Sometimes spelled “Posy “, or “Posie“, these are rings with short inscriptions and they were the most common type of ring in use since the Middle Ages. They take their name from the word ‘Poesy’ which is derived from the old French word poesie, meaning ‘The art or composition of poetry’.

Poesie rings date as early as classical times, when they were considered magical, having the power when worn to enforce the poesy engraved on them.

During the 16th century in England and France, wedding rings are often inscribed with a sentiment of love, faith and hope. They are also used as a lover’s token or as a means of showing fond regard, representing the deep intimate feelings of the giver.

Every ring from our Bridal Collection comes with free engraving. Lets take a look at some engravings we have done over the years, and maybe you can think of something meaningful to engrave for yours!

Depending on the collection your ring is from, you may choose your engraving in a variety of font, out of which cursive is the most popular choice!
