Do you know how to take care of that priceless engagement ring and wedding bands of yours?. That’s why proper engagement ring and wedding band care should be something you regularly prioritize.
After all, you’ve spent months, perhaps even years, finding your perfect engagement ring and wedding band. You’ll want to ensure it looks incredible for years to come.
From avoiding certain chemicals to storage ideas, here are a few dos and don’ts for taking care of your engagement ring.
Method 1 : Don’t Remove Your Ring in Public
Hand washing is a must in a public restroom, but resist the temptation to remove your engagement ring and wedding band while you’re lathering up. There are two reasons this isn’t a good idea: your rings can fall into the drain or onto the floor. You can also forget to put your rings back on after you finish washing your hands. Is too great of a risk. Soap and water won’t hurt your rings: keep it on when you wash your hands.
Method 2 : DO TAKE YOUR RING OFF FOR HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES
Protect your engagement ring by taking it off when doing activities that could damage the metal or gemstones. Working out, rock climbing, sailing, gardening, cooking, and cleaning.
It’s danger when you wear your engagement ring in the ocean or lake: the cold water shrinks your finger and your ring can slip off into the water. That’s why people lose engagement rings or wedding bands at the beach.
Although many women wear their rings when sleeping, we think it’s better to take them off every night and put them back on when you are ready for the day. Your ring can snag the threads of a blanket or sheet, pulling on and weakening the prongs.
You will probably also want to remove your ring when you’re pregnant, as it will not fit you properly. Resizing your ring to a bigger size temporarily isn’t a good idea: every time you size your ring you weaken the band a little. Wait until after your child is born to see if your ring fits comfortably again without resizing.
Have a designated place where you put your ring so you never misplace it. Ring holders in the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom mean you never wonder where your ring is.
If you need to remove your ring on the go, slip it onto the chain of a necklace.
Method 3 : CLEAN YOUR ENGAGEMENT RING EVERY OTHER WEEK
To keep your diamonds sparkling, clean them every other week or even more often. Because you wear your engagement ring every day, it needs to be cleaned regularly. Diamonds are oleophilic: they attract oil from your skin which forms a thin film that dims their brilliance.
Cleaning your engagement ring and wedding band with random cleaners at home is something I do not recommend. taking your precious and sentimental engagement ring to an expert jeweler to get it properly steamed clean in a large ultrasonic would be my recommendation.
Method 4 : AVOID EXPOSING YOUR RING TO CHEMICALS
Chemicals like bleach can discolor precious metals and abrasives like toothpaste, cleanser and baking soda can scratch softer stones and metals. Remove your jewelry before handling any chemicals.
Chlorine in pools and hot tubs can be especially dangerous for your jewelry. Chlorine dissolves metal. If you always wear jewelry in the pool it will gradually wear away.
Lotions like moisturizer, sunscreen, foundation, hair gel, and perfume are chemicals too. Lotions leave residue on your rings that can be difficult to clean and can gradually erode the metal of settings. Lotions can permanently damage porous gems like pearls, turquoise, and coral. Never wear jewelry when applying perfume, lotion, or hairspray.
Never clean your jewelry with bleach, abrasives, baking soda, or toothpaste.
Method 5 : STORE YOUR JEWELRY SEPARATELY
A diamond is one of the world’s hardest natural materials, but that doesn’t mean a cut and polished diamond cannot chip. Sometimes the table of a cut diamond can be susceptible to wear and tear. Be sure not to knock it against other hard materials.
For longer term storage, put your ring in a fabric pouch or separate compartment in a jewelry box. One of the most common ways jewelry is damaged is being scratched by other jewelry. Due to their natural hardness, diamonds can damage other gemstones, metals, and even other diamonds.

There are so many bands shapes to choose from when shopping for a ring: Flat, Wavy, U-Shape, V-shape and more. I believe it’s not necessarily easy for everyone to choose what they like when all the rings are beautiful in their own ways. So, here’s a short guide to what might help you in this ring-purchasing journey.
First, it’s important to know that details of the ring could affect the overall silhouette but we will save this for later. Like clothing that can visually manipulate our outlook, shape of the band could make our fingers look longer/shorter, more masculine/feminine. Shape of the band will also be taken into consideration when it is planned to be stack with an diamond ring. It is important to note that there is no fixed silhouette where all — for example —U-shape ring looks the same.
1. Straight Band (Flat/Barrel)
Straight bands are more common and simple but it could be enhance with style lines on the ring. Flat straight band tends to emit a more masculine vibe compared to their barrel counterpart.
2. Wavy Band
Like it’s name shape like a wave, is often asymmetrical and looks more visually interesting. Rings like this might often be difficult to stack but collection like Disney, all rings are designed to stack together.
3. U-shape / V-shape Band
U-shape and V-shape looks similar but the latter looks sharper. Both shapes bands (pointed part often face the wearer), are frequently chosen when one need to stack with a lower setting engagement ring. Already interesting by itself, it is also used to visually elongate fingers.
4. Other Alternatives
Often times straight bands are more easily manipulated by adding style line on the ring to make the ring look rounder, curvier, or even layered.
Last but not least..
Nothing beats trying the rings on yourself. What you think might look like might not match your expectation. Do head down to any of the outlets and our staff are happy to serve you!

Pink diamonds like any other diamond, are formed naturally using billions of years under immense heat and pressure. And among 200,000 diamonds, there is only 1 natural pink color diamond to be found. Because of its immense rarity, it is also known as “A symbol of Destiny”.
How do Pink diamonds formed?
There’s also a touch of mystery and intrigue about the rosy gemstone, because the exact reason for the pink colour is not completely known (unlike their coloured counterparts).
Pink diamonds get their hue from seismic activity that creates a shift in the crystal structure of the diamond, resulting in a beautiful shade of blush.
Research confirms that the color of 99.5% of pink diamonds comes from distortion in their crystal structure, not from trace elements, such as nitrogen, which causes yellow color in diamonds or boron, which causes blue.
Pink diamonds, which are predominantly sourced from the Argyle Diamond Mine (now closed) in Western Australia, are extremely rare and highly sought after by collectors all over the world.
However, its mined volume has been decreasing over the years, which means an increase in scarcity.
This fact only adds to the enigmatic allure of these highly coveted diamonds.
What does Pink Diamond symbolize?
While the colour pink represents femininity, romance and tenderness, pink diamonds themselves exude the qualities of love, creativity and romance.
MILK & Strawberry’s “Natural Pink Diamonds” are a representation of “Two Destined Lovers”.
Every single piece of “Natural Pink Diamond” in MILK & Strawberry has gone through a very strict selection procedure. A careful selection that only diamonds with the most outstanding Color & Brilliance may pass, despite its scarcity, so its radiance may shine forever – like your everlasting happiness.
Besides able to customise the material from platinum to K18 White Gold, Yellow Gold and Rose Gold, you can also customise the arrangement of the pink melee diamond. Of course, these customization can be done with other brands in Venus Tears too! Do head down to any of our stores to find out more!

Before we dive right in, what is a two-tone ring? Two-tone by definition meant having to different shades or colours. For jewellery, Two-tone means having two different material —or same material— of different colour merging into one.
Two-tone Ring doesn’t just come in one form—especially in Venus Tears—we carry different variety of design to better cater to our customers. The different variety of two-tone we have: Layering, blending, divided, borders etc. But it does not affect the durability of the ring at all.
AIMOKUME’s exclusive double casting technique where 2 metals are melted together.
Does it symbolize anything?
It could, but it doesn’t have to be. All the brands in Venus Tears have their own brand stories to tell hence two-tone option could serve as an icing on the cake. Two-tone ring could use to symbolize one’s uniqueness as well since it’s not as commonly seen.

Amour Amulet’s Attache
How does it affect the overall outlook?
Taking colours into consideration, two-tone ring could look more vintage comparing to one-tone ring due associations that modern equals to using minimal colour. However, more importantly, does it suit your taste? Colours could be used to accentuate diamond’s whiteness —or yellowness, whichever you prefer— or your skin colour.

At Venus Tears, we have different styles of rings for you to choose from.
From simple and classic to intricate and unique.
Introducing MAILE, a collection that is inspired by Traditional Hawaiian Heirloom jewelry.
Each engraving has their own symbolism. ‘Princess’ engraving above symbolizes “Love and Hope’ for the future.
Introduction to MAILE
The word ‘Maile’ could be familiar to some, referring to Maile lei, a Hawaiian leaf to communicate love, respect, blessing and reverence. The Hawaiian leaf is an indigenous vine or shrub found in wet forests throughout the Hawaiian Islands. Similarly, the brand MAILE is inspired by Hawaiian heirloom jewelry with design featuring Hawaiian engravings. It is a hand-carved collection that requires craftsmen’s high level of precision to produce.
Band width starts from 3mm to 7mm
Each thought and consideration is what makes the ring truly unique to you, it’s especially so when you could decide what goes on the ring.
Noticing that different types of clothes could change one’s impression, the little jewellery on our fingers could do that as well. And like our clothing, we choose the one ring that matches our character and finger best: Starting from width of ring, engravings, colours, design details, finishing, inner or outer stones to point designs.

Carve your message onto the ring
The intricate design are one of the many highlights of MAILE. Each of the Hawaiian Engraving has their own story and symbolism.
‘Princess’ engraving with ‘Sand in’ and “Polish” finishing
For example, ‘Princess’ engraving above symbolizes “Love and Hope’ for the future. The design symbolizes Princess Kaiulani, who was touted as the star of hope in Hawaii. Scrolls (waves) that are said to “invite happiness”, with flower representing love, and the leaf that connects the waves leads to a future full of love and hope.
Additionally, there are different finishing to further enhance the intricacy of the engraving. Do head down to Venus Tears to find out more!
